Vitamin D is important for the “over-sixty-fives”

Endocrinologists recommend that everybody over 65 should supplement their diet with vitamin D.

Research has revealed that many of us do not produce enough of the so-called “sun vitamin”, which can have serious implications as vitamin D is important for the bones and memory.

Moreover, a deficiency increases the danger of developing Parkinson’s Disease, bone fractures and depression.

The skin of older people tends to be thinner; many elderly do not, or cannot, go out as much as they used to and also absorb fewer vitamins through food, therefore experts recommend they supplement their diet with at least 800 iu (International Units) of vitamin D daily.
